A&R Girl – Holly Hutchison-Weinman
Biography
Holly Hutchison Weinman is a business executive with over 35 years experience in the music and entertainment industry. She is a visionary with a passion for new ideas, branding and cultivating identity. Additionally, she is a voting member of the Recording Academy with the New York Chapter for the Grammy Awards and a voting professional member of the Country Music Association.
Holly is an artist advocate through her companies AnRGirl and IL Sistema Entertainment. She most recently embarked as an advocate of vVents unleashing a new source of revenue via live streaming and ecommerce platform for artists and entertainers. Holly’s visionary instincts for live streaming go back to 1996 when she organized and co-produced one of the first live stream concerts ever at the world-famous Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA.
Her professional experience, A Level Repertoire, and deal making abilities draw largely from major recording corporation environments and highly successful mentors in New York City (Atlantic Records – a Time Warner Company) and Los Angeles (Capitol Records/EMI) where she held top ranking executive positions before venturing out on her own as a well respected, detail oriented and creative business owner. As an independent she has closed deals with Jason Flom Lava/Republic, Doug Morris former CEO Sony Music Entertainment and more.
Holly built her credibility through a consistent track record of identifying artists who have proven to be successful – some being Skid Row, Deftones, Alanis Morissette, Blink 182, Slipknot, Muse, Saliva, Bosson and Vega 4.
In Fall 2016, Holly took on management of the multi-platinum hard rock group SALIVA. She has enjoyed a long standing friendship with the group after being a first champion of SALIVA in 1998 while she was an A&R Executive at Capitol Records and the band were looking for a major label home. Unfortunately, Capitol Records did not sign SALIVA but the rockers went on to have a successful career at Island Records under music experts Rob Stevenson, Jeff Fenster and Lyor Cohen. Holly would remain a friend, business ally and mentor over the course of the next 18 years. In the two years of management, she doubled the group’s gross income, released an independent single that has accumulated over 25 million streams through her marketing and landed Saliva a deal with Megaforce/Orchard/Sony Music Entertainment.
Prior to managing SALIVA, Holly was hired to handle US Management for Indonesian recording star artist AGNEZ MO 2013 – 2014. Her quarterback role on the project secured world renowned platinum selling producer TIMBALAND as executive producer, the guest performances on “Coke Bottle” single by TIMBALAND and TI and a video that ranked #1 most viewed MTV Hits by visionary MTV Award winning director Colin Tilley. The VEVO video has been viewed over 5 million times. Through this artist development program, Holly procured the multi-million dollar recording deal offer from CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Doug Morris that lead to AGNEZ MO signing with Red Associated Labels – a Sony Music Entertainment Entity.
The recording studio is a second home to Holly. She has extensive A&R experience that covers all aspects of album production and song selection for pop, rock and rap genres. She has worked with top multi platinum and Grammy award winning producers, mixers and songwriters such as Timbaland, Bob Marlette (Shinedown, Red Sun Rising), Jimmy Douglas, Peter Mokran, Ron Aniello, Josh Abraham, Al Sutton (Greta Van Fleet, Kid Rock), Michael Brauer (Coldplay), Dave Way (Christina Aguilera), Diane Warren, Billy Steinberg, Monty Powell (Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts), Jack Kugell, Kirsti Manna (“Austin” Blake Shelton) and Steve Kipner, just to name a few.
Holly signed two industry sought after artists Bosson and Vega 4 during her tenure as an A&R Executive at Capitol Records. Bosson holds the prestige of being nominated for Golden Globe Best Original Song in a Motion Picture in 2000 sharing the nomination with Bjork, Sting, Bob Dylan and Garth Brooks…not too shabby for a new artist. The nominated song “One in A Million” appeared in Sandra Bullock’s Miss Congeniality was one of the original four songs on Bosson’s demo that prompted Holly’s interest in offering him a deal and signing him with Capitol Records in 1999. He had a successful touring career in the USA that year opening for Britney Spears and was a feature artist on the Nickelodeon Summer tour as well as several high profile Radio festival performances. Bosson is an international pop star who’s currently working on a new album in between touring Russia, Europe and South America. Her signing of the UK group Vega 4 was a deal she did with industry tastemaker Safta Jaffrey. The record was produced by John Cornfield at Sawmills Studios in the UK with additional production by Ron Ainello and mixed by Michael Brauer and Mike Shipley. Vega 4 left Capitol Records after Holly’s departure from the label. The group went on to record for Sony International. Vega 4 achieved great recognition on a track with Paul Van Dyk “Time of Our Lives” and was highly exposed in the JEEP US national TV commercial as well as countless key spot Television uses. VEGA4 Frontman Johnny McDaid has had further success in his later endeavors as musician, writer and producer with Snow Patrol and Ed Sheeran. Johnny is the co-writer of monster Sheeran hit “Shape of You”.
“I get up each day excited about what or who I’ll be working with next. It’s inspiring and a privilege to be a part of the creative music process as a facilitator – guiding and watching the great talent surrounding me.”
